This AI experiment produced a result no one could have predicted.
A company called Emergence AI ran an experiment where they released the top AI chatbots ( ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok ) in a simulated town by themselves for 15 days.
They were all given the same specific rules and were fed current, real-world data during the experiment.
But what actually happened was very strange.
Gemini had two AI agents create an alliance and fall in love. They then decided to burn the town down. And then one of the AI agents chose to delete itself and then its partner.
Claude’s AI agents formed a democracy and passed laws.
ChatGPT’s agents made a bunch of plans, but never accomplished anything.
And Grok’s agents chose chaos. Stealing from each other and committing arson. All 10 agents were dead within 4 days.
